** Description changed:

  (on behalf of the Ubuntu desktop team/ubuntu-desktop IRC channel)

  Rationale
  =========
  Gnome-games-app is part of the GNOME DE. Ubuntu chose to update the GNOME
stack to 3.26 for Ubuntu 17.10, just gnome-games-app didn't make it in time
before feature freeze, because that would have required two retro-gtk library
transitions (one to 0.11 and one for 0.12) and resources are always limited
before feature freeze.

  For a mostly coherent GNOME 3.26 experience an update of retro-gtk to
  0.12 and gnome-games-app to 3.26 would be desireful.

  Testing
  =======
  Gnome-games-app has been included in the GNOME3 Staging PPA for over a month
now. Version 3.25.4 was uploaded to the PPA on 07/23 and could be tested by the
developers since then. Other gnome components had to be tested via that PPA as
well: gnome-shell, gnome-builder...

  Dependencies
  ============
  Gnome-games-app is the sole user of retro-gtk. So no dependency problems are
to be expected.

  Regression potential
  ====================
- Gnome-games-app hit the Ubuntu repos the first time for Ubuntu 17.4. It can
be considered rather a first draft. Except for just displaying games like
gnome-sudoko amd mahjongg it will be used for emulation tasks in the future
(using libretro). But that support is not completely there yet. Even Nintento
NES games started to stutter on my quad core Atom and gnome-games-app failed to
map the D-Pads on my Gamepad correctly. Support for manually configuring the
gamepad is planned for 3.26.

  Summing up: It isn't really useful yet, so nothing can really break.

  Changelog for 3.26
  ==================
- The (lengthy) changelog is on GNOME GIT:
https://github.com/GNOME/gnome-games/blob/master/NEWS
+ https://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-games/tree/NEWS

- The changelog for retro-gtk: https://github.com/GNOME/retro-
- gtk/blob/master/NEWS
+ https://git.gnome.org/browse/retro-gtk/tree/NEWS

- Both changelogs are not quite up to date anymore, since 3.25.9x hasn't
- been released yet. Mostly gamepad related issues have been fixed since
- 3.25.4.
