It Appears to be fixed - though too soon to be sure. A new update to xwayland and xorg and similar things may have fixed it. It was somewhat inconsistent.
It may be that I changed my boot order in boot devices so the "notebook Hdd" is at the top. (Not the USB Hdd). I will restart again with the BIOS changed back to the way I have ALWAYS had it with "USB Hdd" as first priority.
