Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 17.10 has no functioning clipboard manager. This means that if
you copy something from an application, and then close that application
before pasting it elsewhere, it's lost.

For now I was able to fix this issue by installing parcellite.

Also, there should be a better way to add a bug report to launchpad than
fudging it like i had to, but I brought this up as a bug before, to no
joy.
