I have modified the headerbar patch for nautilus https://git.launchpad.net/~khurshid-alam/nautilus/+git/unity- test/tree/debian/patches/0002-Only-use-a-header-bar-in-GNOME-shell.patch For me, It is working well in Unity and Ubuntu (both xorg and wayland) sessions and nautilus doesn't crash. Please test and if it works for you please re-enable the patch.
