** Also affects: ubuntu
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
** Description changed:
When resuming from suspend, user session is closed.
Scenario:
I have open applications for work: Chromium, Emacs, etc. I'm using a
laptop (ThinkPad T410s).
When I close the lid, system goes to suspend.
When opening the lid, system resumes.
Expected: my user session is active, only locked when resuming; all
previously open applications have saved their state, so I can continue
working.
What happens: my user session is closed, all my previously open
applications are closed, I have lost everything that was not saved.
I recall having seen a bug report about this same problem back in
2011/2012, and it has not been solved, apparently.
- The workaround suggested back then was to disable screen lock when resuming,
to prevent this from happening.

This is akin to having a problematic door lock, and suggesting leaving your
house door open to avoid issues.
