That seems to have been the main problem. The distribution upgrade got all the way to the "Installing the Upgrades" step, but appears to have stopped. I clicked on the "Show Terminal" button but nothing is in the terminal window and the progress bar has been at 0% for about 30 minutes with no apparent HD activity. I started to close and restart the upgrade window, but received a message indicating the system might be in an unusable state so I cancelled it. If nothing happens soon I will have to cancel it.
