Same problem here on "Intel NUC NUC7i7BNH (Ubuntu 17.10 ; 4.13.0-16-generic)". I use some extensions ( Blyr, Removable Drive Menu, Sound Input & Output Device Chooser, TeaTime ). When i create a new account without extensions, problem is same, when screen is lock or monitor goes to standby mode Ubuntu go to "Login screen" and all Apps is gone. I tested Wayland and Xorg.
