the problem here is its supposed to detect the correct settings and set it accordingly. however for some reason it doesn't. it worked fine on fiesty but on gutsy it doesn't detect it for some reason. on fiesty it set it to 1024 768 (this is the max resolution of my monitor). however on gutsy it gets set to 1280 1024 (gives me monitor out of range warning). the even stranger thing is it only happens with my lcd monitor. if i connect my crt monitor it works fine while still set to 1280 1024 not sure what the supported resolutions of my crt are though (gatewaty ev700). anyway i fixed it by dropping to a shell. doing
sudo nano /etc/usplash.conf changed it to 1024 768 (yours my be different. its dependent on supported resolution) save it sudo dpkg-reconfigure usplash sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart then reboot my pc. it now works fine. specs: ubuntu 7.10 (final release fresh install alternate cd) mag lt565 lcd monitor 256 mb ddr radeon xpress 200 integrated gpu (using fglrx) 2x500gb seagate sata hdd sempron 3500+ 2.0ghz cpu (socket 939) -- Black screen, and bad usplash.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/150930 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
