I have been busy for the past month, but I finally got around to try it out. Here are the results and answers to @jsalisbury's questions:
1. I am not sure a kernel ever existed where this problem was not present. Maybe ancient kernels around the time this computer was released (2013-14 ish). It was probably before the CPU/GPU was supported. 2.
