Public bug reported:

My experience with Ubuntu 7.10 Live CD.

1) [ 0.000000] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is
required to enable ACPI
2) Ubuntu then starts loading, (the orange bar fills in from left to right)
3) The screen goes blank, some reading of the cd still takes place.
4) system then hangs!

My experience with Ubuntu 7.10 Alternate CD

1) [ 0.000000] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is
required to enable ACPI
2) Installs in text mode
3) The entire operating system installs flawlessly
4) BUT fails on reboot at the line "[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~#_ (with a blinking
underscore)
(Celeron the name of my computer and is its CPU)

My experience with Xubuntu 7.10 Live CD

1) [ 0.000000] ACPI: BIOS age (1999) fails cutoff (2000), acpi=force is
required to enable ACPI
2) Xbuntu then starts loading, (the blue bar fills in from left to right)
3) boots up to Desktop Install Icon
4) BUT fails to Install from the CD.
5) After reboot I cant get XP to boot either.
instead I get "Grub loading stage 1.5"
                       "Grub Loading, please wait"
                       "error 21"
6) So now I cant do a recovery/repair from my XP CD either.

7) Looks like Grub got hooked into my MBR
I finally had to fix the MBR in DOS to save my XP install

I had no trouble Installing the Fedora OS or the PC Linux OS on this machine
with a Celeron 367 MHz CPU.

I would like to know how to enable the ACPI at the start of the boot process?
I cant get to the point to change it after the install, because the install
never gets
that far.
