Thanks for sharing this. This is not a fwupd bug, but a firmware bug. I believe the root cause to be a clash in the ESRT GUID between these two machines.
Until the firmware bug is resolved please blacklist the device using the blacklist option in /etc/fwupd/daemon.conf to prevent trying to apply this update when running fwupdmgr update. https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/blob/master/data/daemon.conf#L5 I'll ping the appropriate folks internally at Dell, but please feel free to open a support case as well and reference this bug if you need to. ** Changed in: fwupd (Ubuntu) Status: New => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1740528 Title: UEFI firmware for DELL wrongly detected as another model than current one To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupd/+bug/1740528/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
