I have also hit this impasse and as a non tech tis is all very good but of no use to me. There must be thousands of people like me who have abandoned windows (yuck) don't wish to go there again Do they have a local friendly tech or do they just give up I had great hopes of this distro giving me the latest version of open office data base without the bugs. it seems a shame that it is so difficult when Ubuntu is such a great platform i would like to learn the nitty gritty but don't know where to start i had no problems learning ms dos Tony
