Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped: The Ubuntu delta was to disable the GTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED macro in Ardour's internal copy of gtkmm, to enable it to be built against GTK 2.11.x. This has properly been fixed upstream, which Debian now has.
