Public bug reported: The application cannot be started. LibreOffice user installation could not be processed due to missing access rights. Please make sure that you have sufficient access rights for the following location and restart LibreOffice:
/home/*user name*/.config/libreoffice/4 this is 17.10, more details here: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2385813&p=13743523#post13743523 I could reproduce the bug with a user to make libreoffice fail and make libreoffice start normally. Problem is related to me having my homedir not under /home/user but under another mountpoint /data/home/user The bug persists even if /etc/password contains /data/home/user If /etc/passwd contains /home/user which is a symlink to /data/home/user, libreoffice won't start either. If I move the homdirectory completely to /home/user, the libreoffice starts without problems. This was tested with a newly created user.
