Public bug reported:

I'm using Xubuntu 18.04, the iso uploaded at 2:19 UTC, 15/3/2018(as of
posting, the latest release), running in Virtualbox 5.28 host on a newly
installed Xubuntu 18.04 system using the Beta 1 ISO.

I was running through the QA testing for a new install, and got to the
point where I need to create an account, log out, and log into the new
account. It went well the first time, the old and the new user accounts
worked. I logged back into the original account (created at install),
deleted the other account, started Firefox (to have an app running for
the session to be saved), created the account with the same name, logged
out of my first account, and logged into the newly created account.

The account wouldn't log in. Checking /home, there should be two home
folders, /home/arin (the home folder for the account created by the
installer), and /home/knock, the account I had created, deleted, and
created again. /home/knock did not exist this second time.
