Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.22-14-generic

After resuming from ACPI S1 sleep, the MAC address of the ethernet
interface is invalidated (because it is reversed) and a new random MAC
is generated, leading to a new device name (I'm at eth7 now)

On Boot:
[ 17.689747] forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver. Version
0.60.
[ 21.002274] forcedeth: using HIGHDMA
[ 21.519174] eth0: forcedeth.c: subsystem: 01043:8239 bound to 0000:00:08.0

On Resume:
[ 478.820000] forcedeth.c: Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver. Version
0.60.
[ 478.820000] forcedeth: using HIGHDMA
[ 478.820000] 0000:00:08.0: Invalid Mac address detected: 77:c7:66:f3:18:00
[ 478.820000] Please complain to your hardware vendor. Switching to a random
MAC.
[ 479.340000] eth0: forcedeth.c: subsystem: 01043:8239 bound to 0000:00:08.0
[ 479.572000] eth7: no link during initialization.
[ 481.748000] eth7: link up.
[ 481.748000] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE): eth7: link becomes ready

** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
