I had the same issue of not being able to access MMC cards, but I just discovered a fix on this blog: http://intr.overt.org/blog/?p=59 Now the card reader supports MMC too! Maybe a feature release of Ubuntu can now incorporate this fix into the kernel package, so that one doesn't have to manually set the registers?
