Public bug reported: Kubuntu 18.04 beta 20180404, installed to a virtual machine (Virtualbox 5.2.4, Kubuntu 17.10 host) for testing purposes. All packages are up-to- date as of this writing.
If, after starting the machine, I attempt to log in by hitting return after writing the password, nothing happens. If I press login button with the mouse, I get logged in. If I then log out and repeat, return logs me in. Somewhat similarly, if I let screen lock automatically (due to configured timeout), I can't unlock by writing the password + return. I need to press Unlock-button with the mouse. However, if I lock the screen manually from menu (Leave -> Lock), the problem doesn't occur and I can unlock by writing the password + return. I have Kubuntu 16.04 and 17.04 under the same Virtualbox/host and the problem doesn't occur in those. It also doesn't occur in the Kubuntu 17.10 host.
