So, the fundamental problem here is that Xgl doesn't forward DPMS & screensaver stuff to the underlying X server, and all the power- management & screensaver applications are trying to control the Xgl server (as they should). However, this means that when (for example) gnome-power-manager tries to disable DPMS when a movie is playing, this doesn't affect the underlying X server, which goes ahead and turns off the screen after 20 minutes.
A clean solution would be for the Xglx server to advertise DPMS based upon the ability of the underlying X server, and to forward DPMS requests to the underlying X server. A sort of work around is to turn off all DPMS support in the underlying server, but that means that the screen will never be blanked. Setting back to Triaged. I'm not going to be able to do this hacking immediately, although I don't believe it'd be too hard to do. ** Changed in: xserver-xgl (Ubuntu) Assignee: Chris Halse Rogers (raof) => (unassigned) Status: In Progress => Triaged -- Screen blanks after ten minutes when watching video in Mplayer with XGL and Compiz Fusion turned on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125947 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
