The problem is that the package nvidia-glx-legacy PROVIDES nvidia-glx,
so it cannot be installed alongside nvidia-settings. The simplest
solution would be to modify the nvidia-glx-legacy package so that it
does not provide nvidia-glx anymore. I don't know if this may create
other kind of problems.

The best solution would be to rename the current nvidia-glx package to
nvidia-glx-current (or nvidia-glx-stable), and live nvidia-glx has a
meta-package provided by all the NVIDIA drivers. In this way, nvidia-
settings could be made to conflict only with nvidia-glx-stable and
nvidia-glx-new.
