Public bug reported: If cryptsetup is installed, even if no partition is encrypted, the generated initramfs will be much larger than necessary, because all framebuffer/DRM drivers will be included.
This causes systems with low memory to not be able to boot at all. That includes systems that are kdumping. On x86, they usually only have 128M of memory allocated. That makes them fail to decompress the initramfs or OOM very early. ** Affects: cryptsetup (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766745 Title: cryptsetup initramfs-tools hooks conf always sets FRAMEBUFFER=y To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1766745/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
