Please fix. Until then, I'll disable snap on my version of 18.04.

Why? I think the developers may be missing the point. Standards are
standards for a reason, and when you arbitrarily ignore either standards
OR common practices, you imply your software isn't ready for production.
Creating an arbitrary visible directory in my HOME directory (it's
called home for a reason) seems quite pre-production, implying nothing
under the snap 'name' is ready for primetime. What else is the software
doing that's atypical? It does not give me faith in the current status
of snap.
