Walter, thanks for the reply! The issue is still present for my system,
built upon on a stable, yet customized version of Lubuntu 16.04.

Not sure I have done that before I stumbled about this issue here. Will
definitely repeat this step just in case!

Further I dug a bit into the logs and actually found something that
might point to the problem here:

--- from dist-upgrade log ---
…

2018-05-20 13:11:09,777 DEBUG openCache()

2018-05-20 13:11:10,286 DEBUG /openCache(), new cache size 90600
2018-05-20 13:11:10,287 DEBUG need_server_mode(): run in 'desktop' mode,
(because of key deps for 'lubuntu-core')
2018-05-20 13:11:11,965 ERROR Dist-upgrade failed: 'E:Fehler: Unterbrechungen
durch pkgProblemResolver::Resolve hervorgerufen; dies könnte durch
zurückgehaltene Pakete verursacht worden sein.'
2018-05-20 13:11:11,978 DEBUG abort called
2018-05-20 13:11:11,983 DEBUG openCache()
2018-05-20 13:11:11,983 DEBUG failed to SystemUnLock() (E:Nicht gesperrt)
2018-05-20 13:11:13,666 DEBUG /openCache(), new cache size 88071
--- log ends here ---

After filing the bug, I am going to retry the update in 'server' mode or
shouldn't I?
