It seems I was mistaken...

That third link, the oakparkfoundation one, goes slow whether you enable
or disable smooth scrolling (actually it seems to run better with it
on!). However it works fine in Konqueror.

Just out of curiosity I booted up the xp virtual machine (using VMWare)
and installed Firefox. The smooth scrolling is disabled by default on
the Windows version. The oakparkfoundation link runs fine with the
default settings, but when you enable smooth scrolling it goes a bit
slow (but still not as slow as in ubuntu Firefox).

Ironically the site has a "viewable with any web browser" logo on it
haha. Hopefully this isn't too common, or else I'll be switching to
Konqueror!
