Another issue appears to be...
When starting sssd in highest debug level, and then changing resolv.conf once
by doing:
$ touch foo
$ mv foo /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf
(that's where the link target is pointing to), I see the expected:
(Tue Jun 12 00:16:57 2018) [sssd] [resolv_conf_inotify_cb] (0x2000): Received
inotify notification for /etc/resolv.conf
(Tue Jun 12 00:16:57 2018) [sssd] [monitor_update_resolv] (0x1000): Resolv.conf
has been updated. Reloading.

Doing that *again*, i.e.
$ touch bar
$ mv bar /run/systemd/resolve/stub-resolv.conf
Does *not* trigger sssd's inotify watch again. That's apparently since sssd
does not re-register a new inotify watch for the new inode number of the file
which was moved in.

This seems like a fundamental rework would have to go into sssd, maybe
the easiest would be to default to polling instead of inotify until all
this is fixed?
