Hi, I have perhaps a variation of this problem. I have a Dell laptop with a broken monitor, so I use it as a desktop with an external monitor. It has an ATI Radeon Mobility card in it. I see this problem since I upgraded to Gutsy, but also when I run both the Ubuntu as well as Kubuntu live-CDs. Feisty installation worked fine, as well as the Feisty live-CD works fine.
What I see in addition to already reported: 1. The log-in screen as well as the splash-screen after giving username and password shows this behavior 2. When I press the "K" button to bring up the menu, the menu pops up half-way up the screen, on the bottom of the top-left 1024x768 corner, I presume. 3. Maximizing a window only maximizes it to the top-lef 1024x768 part of the monitor.
