Fixed! Try editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base as root (i.e. "sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base") and adding the following to the end of the file:
options snd-hda-intel position_fix=1 model=3stack Then restart the system (restarting alsa wasn't enough for me).
