One thing of interest is that suspend resume works perfectly using
s2ram. I had submitted the whitelist entry for it, upstream -
http://suspend.cvs.sourceforge.net/suspend/suspend/whitelist.c?view=log
- the relevant section is :

/* Rohan Dhruva <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> */
{ "Acer, inc.",                 "TravelMate 3260 ",     "",     "", 
VBE_POST|VBE_MODE },

Which says my card requires VBE_POST and VBE_MODE quirks. The same entry is 
present on the hal quirks site for my laptop. Maybe this bug is occurring on 
ubuntu due to lack of these quirks on a plain ubuntu install ? 
Please tell me how can I help more in getting this bug closed :)
