found this page looking for information for same model laptop running Manjaro, also confirmed sound working on windows 10 found another page for ALC294 codec - https://askubuntu.com/questions/986140/no-sound-output-ubuntu-17-10-asus-zenbook-13 all 3 appear to have common problem caused by windows 10 shutdown
