Thanks for fast answer. Downloaded latest image 2018-07-23 available.

The nouveau driver of that image works. Ubuntu Desktop could be
installed now.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ uname -a
Linux ubuntu 4.15.0-23-generic #25-Ubuntu SMP Wed May 23 18:02:16 UTC 2018
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lspci -nnk | grep -i VGA -A2
29:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GP108 [10de:1d01]
(rev a1)
Subsystem: Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. [MSI] GP108 [GeForce GT
1030] [1462:8c98]
        Kernel driver in use: nouveau

Hopefully the driver and corrected nvidia driver version will be
distributed soon.
