I've tried again to reproduce this with the latest daily of Cosmic and still can't. I've even gone out of my way to setup a new drive with a DOS partition table and an ext4 partition. I automounted it to data. So unless you have a different partitioning scheme, this should be nearly an exact replica of your situation. Either that, or I'm not getting something.
