I use light-locker 1.8.0-1ubuntu1 and xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:18.0.1-1.
updated the description

Problem persists after adding "HandleLidSwitch=ignore" to
/etc/systemd/logind.conf (to work around #1797079)

** Description changed:

  Reproduce:
  * lock screen
  * close laptop lid
  = system goes to sleep
  * open lid
  > enter password to unlock
  = screen blanks for a glimpse, goes back to login screen
  > enter password to unlock
  = screen blanks for a glimpse, goes back to login screen
  eventually the session is unlocked then, sometimes I've to login again
