There is no pattern to the changes between the two modes and it can happen several times in a few minutes. When the laptop is switching between the modes the life-timer on the battery goes totally inaccurate (For example: Reporting 0% charged but charging even though the battery is fully charged) The only way to run correctly is on AC with no battery attached. I am using the default power manager that comes with Kubuntu.
