well i missed a couple of posts..... i never did try the Debian thing, i have been busy with a site that needs done and have not got around to doing much other than hoping to see how to fix this bug. You would think this driver would work because yes "it is all linux" but for some reason the linuxant drivers are very picky about the kernel they run under. I use to run dapper and i tried all kinds of these drivers, i dont really remember but it was like the driver for xx.xx.xx.23 and i have xx.xx.xx.24 (just an example) an the driver would not work....i even tired to use the generic debian driver and that would not work. See if i could just buy a new driver for 2.6.23.xx i would but linuxant does not have it yet. Im just in a pickle here :) And i think even if i compile a custom kernel my driver will stop working (because on the linuxant site they say if you have a custom kernel you need to use generic Debian drivers and not version specific). So all this rambling being said i just really dont know what to do. I was hoping for a fix that would let me keep my 2.6.22.14-generic, but it looks like im not going to be able to. The one thing i am sure of is this dialup internet sucks....i wish i could get dsl or something but it take months to arrange here in Ukraine.....so it hopeless. :( im just happy to have a connection now though. I have really been thinking about moving to mandriva or SUSE but i like Ubuntu and want to stick with it.
so if anyone has any ideas i would be so thankful....i would love to have sound on my lappy.....and even though i still have windows on here i refuse to boot it......(i just need to figure out how to add the windows partition to my linux one so i can wipe windows). im sorry also because i feel like out of everyone here i have done the least to contribute to this cause, if i knew more i would do it and also it is not easy to get my internet working so if i have to reinstall ubuntu it might take a week to get the modem driver working again so you might not know what i found out anyways ;) thanks so much for your help and patience. -- toshiba p100 series dsdt acpi error no sound, works with acpi turned off. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/136469 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
