It certainly does appear that the escape side of things was fixed at least as far back as Feisty. However I would argue the real issue still remains.
I'm almost certain that / typeahead find is NOT in the HIG (http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gup/hig/2.0/input-keyboard.html #keyboard-navigation ).
