Did you load msr kernel module before (modprobe msr)?

Do you have the possibility to slightly overclock? Isn't there a Bios
switch like "Typical Current Idle"? Is there a possibility to switch of
C-states completely in the Bios (just for testing to be sure your hangs
are the same reason as here)?
