Dear MarkF, I used GIMP 2.10 from kesselgulasch's PPA since I experienced continuous crash of 2.8 installed normally from lubuntu packages. Absolutely no crash since then, but I could not find any connection between PcManFM 1.2.5 crash and GIMP crash. There are no shared packages between the two softwares. PcManFM 1.2.5 was doing its crash as usual. Only then I upgraded PcManFm to 1.3.0 with LibFM 1.2.5 and crashes became quite rare. BUT! The freezing is there! The problem seemingly does not come from PcManFm, but I have not tried it under MATE or GNOME desktops. This could give the correct answer to the source of the problem. But since I tried Thunar file manager with Lubuntu and it also did the freezing emerged the question of not blaming PcManFM but Lubuntu.
