I found a "kind of work-around": in grafic-mode, switch the mode several times forward and backward, e.g.:
xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1440x900 sleep 2 xrandr --output LVDS --mode 1680x1050 put the commands into a script, run that script 2 ... 5 times, until the flickering suddenly stops.
