Thank you for the help.

In fact, the first bug I found, after a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04.1,
was actually that the computer was hanging at the purple screen on boot. I
attempted to fix this problem by installing video driver PPAs and setting
"nomodeset" on grub. I mistakenly thought this fixed the problem, as I was
able to boot into Ubuntu and get past the purple screen on boot. However,
the video card was then listed as llvmp and the resolutions could not be
changed. That's when I reached out to you.

So, I'm a little hesitant to re-install Ubuntu, as the problem of hanging
at the purple screen on boot was actually the first issue I ran into,
immediately after a fresh install. I feel that re-installing Ubuntu will
not fix the problem; it will only take me back to square one. Does that
make sense?

I was able to get ppa-purge to work, and I removed all the PPAs that I
could think of. Here is a new file of allpackages.txt. Is there any
evidence of PPAs left on the system?

Thanks for your help,

Alex
