Public bug reported: Constant (low volume) static hum, with increased loudness while moving the mouse, typing, or text appearing in terminal. The problem occurs only when the A/C power cable is plugged in. When running on battery power, the problem completely disappears. If headphones are plugged in, it is much more noticeable, however the static noise will come through both the headphones and normal speakers. Its much more difficult to spot without headphones, but still possible if the area around you is relatively quiet. I have tested numerous linux live-cds, it seems the problem is universal. I also tried it on the Fedora 8 live-cd, thinking the new pulseaudio system might take care of it, but no luck. I have not been able to test Windows to see if its a linux-only issue.
