Public bug reported: Binary package hint: rhythmbox
There is a recent bug for which selecting Edit/Preferences/Playback/Use crossfading backend was the cure. In this case, crossfading was the problem. I had not been using it, thought it sounded like fun and selected it. The next time I started Rhythmbox, I got 0.1 sec bursts of sound followed by 0.9 sec bursts of silence. I really don't mind that I can't use cross-fading -- and it may even be specific to my Lenovo T61 (there were known audio problems w/ these machines though they are indeed fixed in Fiesty and Gutsy -- which is why I upgraded.) but wanted to report it.
