Of course I have grub in my system since first installation of Ubuntu because I have still a windows partition and one more Linux partition. Grub was always updated till this update. I do have menu.lst see the enclosure.

It can't be, you have no menu.lst, which is the config file grub uses to know what to boot. I don't know why you have the 'grub' package installed. It is never installed by default on an Ubuntu 16.04 system.
