I also noticed this, my laptop's integrated Intel audio device is also missing from pulseaudio(both as input and output), but I can see other HDMI or USB sound devices I may have attached and I can switch to them and they work as expected.
Interestingly the device works when playing a WAV file using aplay, but only if I run aplay as root. As a normal user I can just see it in alsamixer and I can play with the volume and mute controls there. Here's the error I get when using aplay as my ordinary user: $ aplay test.wav ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1071:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore aplay: main:828: audio open error: Permission denied -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1822426 Title: 19.04 Built in Intel HDA sound is disabled upon resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1822426/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
