12. Kubuntu Gutsy (and I believe this is valid for all Ubuntu flavours)
works fine on a fresh, default install so far no update is made

I've a fresh install (from i386 CD image and on-line PC) working for about two 
days without freeze.
Also installing and using some apps like Firefox and T'bird don't alter the 
situation.
Update warning tray-panel-icon is present but I have left off to upgrade!

A parallel working PC (same hardware config) runs an equal installation
of Kubuntu but updated. So far no update was present it worked fine. Few
minutes after update it started to freeze, and it continues to do it
now. It can run no more than 10 minutes long without freezing.
