Don't know about Load_Cycle_Count, but Power-Off_Retract_Count seems to be a bug in smartctl OR the firmware that gives this number. On my Ubuntu thinkpad it is:
192 Power-Off_Retract_Count 0x0032 100 100 000 Old_age Always - 548864062 with 9 Power_On_Hours 0x0012 079 079 000 Old_age Always - 9588 that would mean 14 retracts per second and if that was happening i assume i would feel the difference. Oh and if it's 7 million - you have at least 541,864,062 cycles to go ;) 193 Load_Cycle_Count 0x0012 087 087 000 Old_age Always - 135209 but still, I haven't noticed anything unusual. And since i have disabled beagle and the likes i don't seem to be getting sounds from hard drive when it is not working. model of the hard drive is HTS541040G9AT00 -- High frequency of load/unload cycles on some hard disks may shorten lifetime https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59695 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
