I have a similar problem. when the system tries to resume after
suspend-to-ram, i either get a blank screen with no backlight, or i get
a screen with "inu" in yellow letters and the backlight is on. In both
cases, the system is hard frozen. typing "find /" does nothing (whereas
i would expect the hard drive to go nuts if it was just a matter of the
video being blank). Caps lock also doesn't turn on. I followed all of
the suggestions in http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram with no success.
Suspend-to-disk resumes just fine, using s2disk.
The problem is with 2.6.22-14-generic. As soon as i switch back to
2.6.20-16-generic or earlier kernels, then suspend-to-ram works just
fine.
