This seems to have shown up a process error. Surely there should be a better way of withdrawing updated packages without generating errors for everybody who tries to install them? Is there not some way of either marking the updated packages as not necessary after all, or having some sort of dummy package which would appear to install OK without generating large numbers of bug reports (and panicking less-technical users, such as those who may have just upgraded from Windows)?
