This would have the effect of always causing github to be used rather
than sourceforge selecting a geographically local mirror for the user.
Is that acceptable?  I think this should be considered a sourceforge bug
if they are redirecting from https urls to http urls; would it make
sense instead for users to contact sourceforge about this poor mirror
configuration?
