Comment 50 is from an Ubuntu developer expert in the area, explains why this particular "report" cannot make progress, provides a path forward for users affected by these symptoms and so is the most relevant for users first finding this bug to read. Let's not put them off by wording that makes it seem like nothing can be done.

This can be achieved when using a standard openvpn config file by adding the lines: script-security 2 up /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf down /etc/openvpn/update-resolv-conf In Network-manager there seems to be no option to run connection specific scripts and the DNS data from the server is ignored.
