Hi Pedro.

Meanwhile the problem was solved.
Now everything works with evince, including rendering and the zoom factor of
400%.

I have no idea what the problem was, maybe an inconsistent fontconfig state.
Here is what I did:

1. Removed $HOME/.gnome2/evince/ev-metadata.xml
2. Removed directory $HOME/.gnome2/evince
3. Reinstall evince
4. Purge, install evince

At this point the problem changed a bit: evince still did not render anything,
but
it wasted all CPU time as well. Than I decided to use acroread.

5. Installed acroread (don't know, if it can have any effect on evince)
6. Font config: dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig
7. Restarted X

Suddenly realized that evince works!

Although evince opens and shows it now correctly I attach one of the pdf-s
the problem was experied with. Actually evince worked with none of the pdf-s
on my machine.

Thank, and regards,
Roland
